Not very intuitive: camera and photo

I tried to follow the instructions but I can't get it to work with my camera. I was expecting some calibration work but it wasn't worth it.

It has a solid construction.

This is a very solid item. I have a Canon 90d with a battery and an 18-55mm lens with a lens hood. I've worked on many major motion pictures and TV shows and grew up with professional steadicam setups. I like it for a basic DSLR setup, it's great. Just practice with it, watch some videos how to use it and you will get what you want.

  • Elegant design

Worn but sold as 'new'

May have quality control, may have tested, works as advertised with Canon Rebel SL1 and 18-55mm lens. Use your dominant hand on the grip and use your other hand to support and pan/pan the camera. If it weren't for that I would have given it a 5 star rating, but paying full price for something that appears to be second hand is unethical. It doesn't bother me as I expect it to take a lot of wear and tear from getting in and out of travel luggage, but let me disassemble it. Looking for")

Available stabilizer

I replaced this all black one after trying the carbon fiber blue one. Black has better grip on a soft surface than blue with an odd texture. After a long shot, your hand will be much more comfortable with it. Also, the black one has a smaller mounting surface than the blue one so I don't accidentally bump into the grip when setting up my camera. The last black one has a lower price than the blue one. It takes a long time to balance the camera, once properly balanced it is very smooth. The…

Doesn't fit light cameras and can't move much with it

To be honest it's fine. Better for heavy cameras. I have a Canon T5i and when I only use my 50mm lens it's too light and doesn't stabilize properly. And if you change anything, e.g. For example, changing the lens or adding an external flash or microphone, or even lengthening the viewfinder requires re-stabilizing it. Also, the camera still tends to pan side to side like panning, but that's not desirable and I don't know how to stop it. And you can't raise or lower it because the grip will hit…

5.5 lbs DSLR + lens does not get the support it needs

When I decided to use the video capability of my DSLR, the first step was to take a look at the gimbals on the camera. This one was super affordable (on sale) so why not. I definitely paid attention to the specified maximum load and unfortunately my D800E with battery pack and Tamron G2 24-70 lens was too heavy (5.5 lbs). Even with all the weights added to the stabilizer and fully extended, I couldn't balance it (at all). I've had success after removing the grip and switching to ultra light…

Can't beat the money

For only $35 this works amazingly well and is pretty easy to set up, understand and use. It's pretty easy to balance the camera with the two sliding arch guides they have. You need to choose the right weight and rod length and then balance. Do a simple rock test to make sure you're there and that's it. I had a TRD viewer that just never worked. I know the new gimbals are better and easier to use, but this Glidecam setup works fine most of the time, with no batteries and no fuss. One of my other

Glide Cam World Training Wheels

Neewer is fantastic if you're looking for affordable prices for what looks like professional-grade equipment. I decided to try my hand at a Glidecam style stabilizer and stumbled upon this lovely copy. The price was perfect, the reviews seemed solid, and I figured it was better than spending hundreds of dollars on a "professional" line of this type of product, and for a while, that was fine. I was able to practice taking photos with a Sony a7III mounted on it. Feeling comfortable enough with…

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

First of all I have to say that this is my first purchase in the world of video stabilization. I've been researching this topic for a few weeks now and thought it was a good place to start. TL; DR I am very happy with it for the price having found a problem but was able to fix it easily. I'll start with the bad news. When I received it (photo #1) the bottom plate could not be pressed against the main shaft, causing it to rotate somewhat freely in a rapid yaw motion. It appears that either the…
