Bought these to protect my thumb which is growing a nail. The gel material is definitely more comfortable and protective than disposable fingertips. However, it seems to attract all kinds of stains that soap and water won't remove. I was still reading the Sunday paper and within seconds the device was covered in unsightly (and I suspect unsanitary) black ink that wouldn't budge. Being a chef myself, I have always found olive oil and tomato sauce to be a problem. So now I have an "inner" pair and an "outer" pair that I hope I can keep clean.
