I bought a couple of these in 2009; one stayed with me, the rest went as gifts to friends. Mine walked down the dark stairwell with the night light on. I was struck by how much light these children radiated! There was enough light to illuminate the landing without blinding anyone climbing the stairs. When the power went out, the battery lasted quite well. Unfortunately, a little over two years passed, and I found that all the light bulbs had burned out. On the other hand, it went like this for almost three years in a row. As cheap as they are, I would buy them again. If I were you I would make sure to place them in a place that gets some light from time to time to prolong the life of the lamp.
