The future of netbooks, laptops and desktops!

Let me start by saying that solid state drives will one day completely replace hard drives from a technical and observational perspective. Intel is certainly leading the way in this exciting new direction. So on February 23, 2010 I bought this 40GB SSD. It arrived two days later as promised by Revain. I decided to continue this because the hard drive in my HP laptop failed miserably. I am very familiar with computers but have little experience installing new hardware. However, this hard drive was EASY to install and took less than 15 minutes. They also include mounting hardware if you want to install it on a desktop computer, so go ahead! At 40GB, this drive is perfect for booting your operating system, and I encourage you to do so! These drives have no moving parts, unlike the HDDs we're used to. You'll notice much faster load times for everything since there's no booting required. (This is flash-based technology, the same as most camera memory cards.) Other benefits include: much quieter operation and faster random access. I tested it by restarting Windows 7 and it was able to shut down, restart and return to the splash screen in just 30 seconds! As I said, everything goes faster. Programs are loaded faster, documents, photos, large projects are saved faster. It's quiet and also greatly improves battery life! Even with a 17-inch screen, I get 3.5 hours in balanced mode. Trust me, you can turn your mid-range desktop or laptop into a little speed demon with this simple upgrade. Remember that this specific size is 40 GB, which is enough for the operating system and all your programs. However, you need an additional hard drive for all your documents. However, I hope that you are as satisfied with this purchase as I am. A+ product.
