Cannot be installed with bundled software

Purchase of a print server to replace a failed HP JetDirect print server. The PM1115P2 works but was a bit tricky to install. By default, the IP address is set to a static address. You must be on the same network to change this. Most routers etc now use the 192.168.2.xxx configuration. However, this device uses the old default version 192.168.0.xxx. My initial attempts at setup consisted of disconnecting from my network with a standalone 10/100 switch and setting my IP address to a compatible value in the 192.168.0.xxx range. The installer could not see the device. Error 432 was displayed stating that Uninstallshield is running. After looking at this, I saw that this is a common problem and followed some of the suggestions. Here's what finally worked for me on Win10/Home Network.1. Disconnected from LAN2. Connected via a 5-port 10/100 switch - you can also use a crossover cable if no switch is available3. Enter the default IP address specified in the manual in the browser in the range 192.168.0.xxx4. I found the Settings section - I had to search - at first it wasn't visible5. TCP-IP properties changed to DHCP6. Disconnected from small switch - connected to LAN7 switch/router. I changed the address on my computer back to DHCP and updated 8. It took about 40 minutes for the router to pick up the server - PM1115P2 is slow - patience9. Rebooted my router to help - within 40 minutes of waiting10. Detected DHCP in my router and assigned an IP address in the range 192.168.2.xxx11. Open Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Devices and Printers12. The previous IP port has been deleted in the printer properties13. Added new port - Standard TCP IP Port14. Left the default shared network card 15. The default is to get an IP address (DHCP)16. Applied and closed17. The test page printed is from an old printer so communication was slow but worked fine18. Throw away the Startech CD - Startech will need to reconfigure it for DHCP, but the software etc appears to be from the late 90's. The device works, you just have to be patient.
