Ok they work but the instructions say not to use them on glass. We eat from glass plates, also steaks. I don't know how important that is, but we haven't broken a single one yet. I know this type of knife is quite fragile but if you follow the care instructions you can have good sharp knives for many years. I keep them in the cases they arrived in to protect them in my desk drawer and make sure they don't get damaged. They are really very sharp. I had a very expensive set of steak knives that just dulled. They can sharpen serrated knives but the result will never be the same even with a whetstone which is why I bought them and 4 stars because the instructions say not to use them on glass. All my dinner plates are made of glass. I wouldn't use them on paper plates or styrofoam sheets because they will cut through them. Have used them 3 times now and love them. Be sure to hand wash and store in cases.
