The first thing I did after receiving this charger/service was read the instructions carefully to understand how to use the three types of batteries used that I have in four cars. After setting the battery type and whether I want to charge fast or slow, this happens mostly automatically. It is believed that after charging, the battery will automatically enter service mode. I also cranked my engine and it started right away. So the charger has served its purpose. There are automatic chargers with manual mode, but they cost a lot more and it's really not worth the extra cost because I rarely use them. What I like about this charger is that not only is it automatic, it's small and light, the LCD window is clear and informative, I can use it with a variety of battery types, it has a winter mode for charging under 50 ° F and it includes my car and truck battery clips and my motorcycle battery rings. Overall I love this charger and I'm glad I decided to give it a try.
