We were using smaller pads under an elderly family member but still experiencing leakage overnight. This larger pad with flaps to hold it on the mattress has been a fantastic addition. Now that family member is in a hospital bed so we turned the mat vertically across the bed. The flaps don't quite reach in this layout but the mat stays in place great on top of a fitted sheet. We still use the smaller pads with this and the combo is terrific.
