Review on πŸ‘ž Dansko Black Burnished Nubuck in Sizes 11.5 and 12: Top-Quality Footwear with a Stylish Edge by Cory Whitney

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Update: Would buy again - good shoe but fit and sizing a bit confusing for first time buyers

UPDATE: I ended up getting a size 40 and although it seemed big at first I got used to it after 2-3 days and I've worn them to work every day for the last year and I really liked the shoes - they keep my feet dry, there's ample support and to be honest, they're just fun to walk short distances (clinic/hospital) in them. I almost want to give 5 stars, but since it requires caution when getting on and off and mobility is not perfect, 4-5 stars. I like them so much that I would buy them again. I bought shoes listed size 8.5-9 (at least at the time of writing this review the only sizes listed seemed to be US sizes ie 8.5-9, 9.5-10, not EU sizes). I'm around 8.5 for most shoe brands. Sometimes I can go as low as 8 and sometimes as high as 9, but usually 8.5 is more or less fine. However, I felt that these shoes were decidedly large, maybe 1 or 1 and 1/2 sizes. I managed to fit two pinkies behind the heel (as opposed to one tiny pinky recommended in Dansko's sizing video). And even with two little fingers behind the heel, I felt like I had more than enough room in the toe box. Even with a few steps in the house, the shoes almost slipped several times. Otherwise the foot is dead and the construction felt very good and I think if it had a better fit it would have been a comfortable shoe. I should also note that while browsing, for example the Danskos website, I've found that 8.5-9 correlates with EU size 42, which would be much more useful information knowing what I'm 40. Size. I hope this can help you make your shoe size decision easier.
