Those who design these things assume that we all live in a clean world, not at the bottom of a gravel road. Of course, VW thinks the same way that sensors on a car stop working as soon as they are dusty or covered with snow or ice. Anyway, back to carpets. They don't lift up far enough at the ends or sides, causing the footrest pad to stick out halfway up and halfway down when the left foot rests on the driver's side. This allows water, ice, snow and dirt to get behind the mat and damage the carpet you bought the mats to protect. The same thing happens on the accelerator side of the mat. Passenger side has the same problem inside and front. You know, kids, they never leave their dirty feet where they belong. The rear seat mats are great, but lack headroom on the back of the mat. Just an opinion. They can be great for you. I'm still glad I have them, but they could be better.
