It actually took 3 cans, but I don't count the first one. The first time I used half the dose to be safe, but it didn't work. The specified dose is therefore absolutely necessary. The first full dose removed maybe 80% but there was still cyano on the sand and some rocks so I gave a second dose 48 hours after the first as directed and it completely removed the rest. Will it return? It's too early to tell, but if so, I'm not worried given how effective it is. Not only did it not kill anything, it didn't even irritate my corals or cause them to close. Just follow all the instructions. They say to run the air stone both before and during use, so I let the air stone run for about 24 hours before putting the formula in the container and let it run the full 96 hours during the treatment. I even overdid the gear just to be safer because I love all my fish and inverts and didn't want to lose anything so I used a 100 gallon pump on an air stone when I only have 32.5 gallons just to be on the safe side and make sure the tank is extra ventilated. Overall my aquarium is crystal clear again and when used correctly this is an extremely simple, economical and safe cyano solution. You can't go wrong here. 10/10
