We bought this system for my kids to watch videos during a recent family vacation. A screen is the "base" on which the DVD and most functions reside. The other has limited functionality and only works when connected to the base system with the included cable. I have a Jeep Renegade and the cables that came with it are long enough for a hassle free connection. The included headrest straps kept the systems secure and we didn't slip the entire ride. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of a full 5 was that the battery didn't even last 2 hours even after a full charge. Every time we hit the 2 hour mark we had to connect it to a power source with cables. Otherwise, the system was intuitive and simple enough that even my kids use it, swapping DVDs, etc. with little to no help. I can only recommend this system at the moment! It was only about 24 hours during our drive on our trip but seems to have been well managed!
