Bought this item even though there were only 2 reviews. I'm so glad I did. The leather has a natural feel, the build quality is good and the fit is perfect for my 1997 BMW e36. The weighted nature of the pen was a bonus; For reference, the shank button weighed just 3.3 ounces, while this derailleur was closer to 5.6 ounces. I like the extra weight but preferences vary. Two other differences between this item and the previous shift knob: 1. Matte finish; 2. The Gear lettering is embedded deeper into the top of the handle. These cosmetic differences will not affect my use or interior appearance.
