This compact drive is well made and like the old Kingston Data Traveler drives, the USB port is protected by a rotating cover. Unlike the Kingston, the lid snaps into place with a latch that keeps it in place. Good looking product. Out of curiosity, I tried transferring some files to this drive as soon as it arrived. I laughed when the files transferred were in Chinese. The folder name was in English and everything else in Chinese characters. However, after formatting everything was fine. Well, except for the transmission speed. I compared this drive to the only other USB 2.0 flash drive I had, the Kingston Data Traveler 101 G2. I copied and timed 0.87GB of data (a folder on my PC containing a mix of photos, documents and other miscellaneous content) from my PC onto discs. Unirex took 4.10 minutes compared to 2.09 minutes for Kingston. . almost twice as long. This corresponds to a transfer rate of around 3.48 MB/s for Unirex compared to 6.74 MB/s for Kingston. Pretty disappointing performance, even for USB 2.0. If you're looking for a fast and nimble flash drive, you should probably look elsewhere. Not all discs are the same, and this one is one of the turtles. For less intensive use, this is a budget drive that should get the job done. Oh, and make sure you format it before using it.
