I was also initially disappointed with the lack of absorbency in these towels. But they seemed so beautiful and high quality that I decided to wash them several times before using them. Even after a few cycles of hot water and oven they are better but still not as absorbent as I would have liked. But that was over a year ago and I've washed them many times since then. They are still as beautiful as before but now they are very soft and absorbent. I will order 2-3 more sets. If you love the looks and have the patience to break them, I highly recommend these kitchen towels. This is what towels look like after a year of use and washing. They're not wrinkle free - they don't look ironed. But the colors are bright, the creases are light, and they are very soft and absorbent. I love them and stand by my rating.
