Review on BettaTank 2-Gallon Hex: Enhanced with LED Lighting for Stunning Display by Timothy Xayamonty

Cheap material not as pictured

I loved the concept of this tank and wish it was actually as good as it looks. ;( But this is an oddly designed tank and does NOT match the photos posted by the seller. - It's not acrylic as expected (although the item description doesn't really say what material it's made of) - it's made of Plastic , like clear milk jug It's flexible and its sides can be squeezed even when filled with water - The bottom isn't flat for some completely weird reason In the promotional photos the tank sits horizontally on the table but this is it totally false advertising. There is a bulge which causes the tank to not lay flat on any surface - see attached photos. The "bottom" of the tank actually hovers about a half inch above the surface on which the " Bump" sits. Because the tank is made of flexible plastic and the bottom is not level. If the gravel and decoration inside the tank is not perfectly balanced (by weight) on all sides the tank will not be level - this is obvious if the tank is not filled to the top then one side will be filled with water before the other. Luckily the tank doesn't lay flat on the underlying surface, the whole tank shakes when you press the button on top to turn on the light. (You can solve this problem by lifting the black part that is the body of the lantern and not attached to the transparent lid of the tank, turn on the light and then place it on top, but you don't have to do this. The cymbal has to be constructed in such a way that it's not a problem at all.) - Due to the material I wouldn't trust the heater in this tank, even the little gravel heaters they are made for Betta tanks. - There is no way to disable the "Automatic shutdown after 2 hours" feature, which as the instructions say is a factory default. Luckily this feature still doesn't work, I've enabled it for 2.5 hours now and it's still active. While there are no seams on the sides, the "corners" where the plastic flexes distort the look. inside the tank, creating slit and mirror images. That being said, the tank *looks* pretty good, aside from the (extremely) annoying fact that it doesn't sit flat on the countertop. The fact that it runs on batteries and literally no cords (except when using a heater) is very convenient. But for the price, I expected better quality, and not only is that bulge at the bottom completely pointless, but as discussed above, it creates a few other logistical issues with the tank itself. In general, I don't recommend.
