Ideal for weathered models

I love these pastel shades better than any I have to add some weathering to the areas that need it. The material sticks well everywhere. I didn't have to remove it so I can't comment but you can if you have to. I also have several other brands of powder crayons, Dr. Ben's, art pastels like Rembrandt and Sennelier Soft Pastels and a few others that I use often but none of them stick or fade as quickly as these PanPastel's. However, I use Sennelier and Rembrandt with alcohol and they behave more like paint this method, which is a great weathering technique (if you're familiar with Sierra West models you'll know what I mean). There doesn't seem to be much pastel powder in the compartments since they look about 1/4 inch deep(?), but it doesn't take a lot of this stuff to get the desired effect. Therefore they will last a long time. a very long time ago. And they're in a solid rather than a loose powder, more like a feminine powder if you've seen it. Also, having all the 'removable' pots in one big plastic case seemed a little strange at first, but I like it as I can move from pot to pot and easily mix any color I want into the piece I have weather with ease. But you can take them out and screw them together if you like. They come with a lid. So to store them other than in a plastic holder, you'll either need to stack them on top of each other, or maybe buy more lids. But that's just a minor annoyance. I have two sets, one Rust/Ground and one Grey/Dirt/Soot, 7 packs. That's enough for me and I use a lot more brown than grey. I've had many other weatherproof powders and yes they are a little more expensive. But I would recommend them to anyone who loves or needs weather on their models. I was lucky enough to have a gift certificate for the first set so it didn't cost me much but once I started using it I bought a second set without hesitation.
