Review on Miccus X7 Antenna - Boost Your Bluetooth Audio Coverage by Katie Parker

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Here is my story on Miccus Home RTX 2.0

Update 07/2018: After receiving the updated Miccus unit I dropped the Bose and Cowin speakers and got two OontZ Angle 3XL ULTRA- and bought Anker speakers. Soundcore Pro+. Both have long-distance reception. They work great. Not a single crack anywhere in my house or yard. They don't sound as good as my Bose, but this Bose speaker just doesn't have the range. It's fine if you're streaming within 10 feet of your cellphone, but not with Miccus. Also, the Anker speaker connects automatically every time I turn it on. I have to manually pair OontZ speakers with Miccus every time. A little pain but the Oontz speakers work remotely, I'll deal with that. Therefore, I will leave my rating of Miccus at 3 stars. I like the unit. Use it every day. Communication with Oontz speakers is a bit buggy. A Bose speaker occasionally works on my back porch about 9 feet away (and through the door), but my "crossover" speakers are Anker and Oontz when I want to connect two Oontz speakers together. Yes I bought two and they are pretty neat. One speaker transmits to another in stereo. Pretty neat. Original message: I was upset. Couldn't walk 30 feet through a glass door without a sound breaking every 5-10 seconds. That's why I buy an X7 antenna. Works a little better but still drops every 20 seconds. This is with my Bose Blue Tooth speaker. I have Cowin which actually works better but I really want to use it with Bose. Sounds better. So this is where it gets interesting and I emailed Mikkus for an explanation. If I connect a Cowin speaker to the first channel and a Bose speaker to the second channel, there are no gaps. It works well for my 30 foot backyard needs. I can't explain it and as I said I emailed Mikkus directly for a possible explanation. I've only had four days and this is the first day I've tried using two speakers at the same time so I'll do it again to see if I can replicate my success. I will also add that it pairs quickly with Bose. I have many problems with Cowin. At this point I have to turn Miccus off and on again to make it "see" Cowin. Bose connects every time. I don't use this for TV so can't speak to lip sync issues. I'm streaming music to my backyard patio right now. So today it works as long as I have connected two speakers. I'll see what happens in the next few days. I will try to update this review later. One more thing. Two speakers cannot be used in the same place because there is a slight delay between them. Creates an "echo" effect. So I either use a speaker indoors or turn down the volume. Update: Mikkus' reply to my email the same day! Excellent. It is recommended to "reset" Miccus 2.0. We were told the written instructions were wrong, so it said "Turn off the RTX 2.0 - press and hold the front button for about 6 seconds until the device turns off." After power off, press and hold the front button for about 10 seconds. The RTX 2.0 will turn on again and then turn off again. Release the button when this cycle is complete. Power the RTX 2.0 back on and the Ch1 LED will flash rapidly, indicating you have restarted the device. Then pair the speaker for reuse. "I'll try later, but so far Bose is working great at 30ft. Another loudspeaker is in the room. Update: Mikkus sends another device. Really fantastic support. They really don't like the way this unit works. I'll update when it arrives and I can customize it.
