Review on Craftsman CMXEOCG472 1/2 HP Chain Drive Smart Garage Door Opener With MyQ Smartphone Control And Wireless Keypad - Red by Art Porras

Easy to install: my feedback

I bought this to replace a 20 year old Craftsman garage door opener. All I really needed was the motor. I left the old hardware in place and the new one fit perfectly. I am roughly of average intelligence and not particularly mechanically inclined--but I can patiently read instructions. It took me less than 3 hours to take the old one out and install the new one. You need to program how far up and down the door goes. The gizmos for that are on the side of the motor. You do have to link up the new remotes---reasonably easy if you read the instructions. I thought I would be able to use the old clicker inside the garage to open and close it, but found I had to install the new one. That was easy. If you have made this far in this review, you can do the job yourself. I live in Maine and wanted to get the job done as we are getting frost on the windshields in the mornings now. The motor does run quieter than the old one. I did download the myQ app to my phone. That works well. I can now open or close the door with my phone from anywhere I happen to be. I can also see if the door is open or closed.

Pros
  • SECURE ACCESS: Security+ 2.0 safeguards garage access by sending a new code to your garage door opener with every click. Each time the remote control is activated, a new access code is selected from billions of possible combinations to prevent interception of the radio signal by would-be hackers.
Cons
  • The wireless connection between the smartphone and the opener might be slow or intermittent
