Review on Kanex Pro Embedder 2 Channel HAECOAX by Tim Burns

Make your DAC and amplifier compatible with Nintendo Switch.

I bought this to use in combination with my Nintendo Switch, Schiit DAC and amplifier. This works with a Nintendo Switch via a coaxial connection, but not without problems. Now and then a crackling sound can be heard in the left or right channel. It's not loud enough to hurt your ears and not bad enough to ruin the overall experience, but it's a downside you might have to contend with when using this device. This is possibly the only real bug I've encountered using this unit in my setup that could be caused by something else in the chain, but I haven't attempted to fix this by adjusting the cables or the DAC got removed from the equation. Check if this is not the cause of the problem as the problem is not that bothersome to me. This problem may not even occur in a different setup, but I'm just guessing. Another slightly odd thing caused by either the Schiit DAC mute relay or the Kanex is the power/input cycling every time you switch to a different input and then back to the Kanex HDMI on your display. Kanex has a two-color LED that indicates correct power supply (red) and correct functionality (purple). Even if Kanex switches to the purple LED after detecting the source, if you switch to a different input on your display and then return to Kanex HDMI to interrupt the audio and video signals, the device completes the power/input cycle, until it can be reconnected. It's a little annoying, but nothing seems to bother my setup. Regarding video, this Kanex box passes the signal from the mixer to my display with no signal degradation, at least in my opinion. does. I don't see any compression, artifacts or limiting factors that could be caused by an external device. It broadcasts an uncompressed 1080p signal at 60 fps when playing Mario Odyssey, which is what we need. Stereo with Nintendo Switch.

Pros
