It's been 4 years and he's still going strong happy as ever

Revane tells me I bought this basket in November 2016 and it still looks brand new. I use it regularly and am very satisfied. I can put a 15 pound sack of rice in at a time and leave plenty of room; it fits 22 lbs and could probably fit 25 lbs if I took out the retractable rice/drink holder. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but you're paying for an extremely thoughtful design, not just a plastic box. Rice has a high value in Asian cultures, and the Japanese have put a lot of effort into design and functionality: 2 wheels on the back make it possible to (almost) effortlessly pull the basket out of the cupboard and then hide it again. I can move this 15 pound rice with a few fingers and I love it. The hinged lid allows you to access the rice inside the container *without removing the entire lid*. This "flap access" approach means I don't have to take the bin all the way out of the cabinet to give enough room to open it, nor do I have to find a safe/clean spot on the kitchen countertop to put the lid on. I have a tiny kitchen so this is a very space efficient design element that I really like. The basket includes a flat-sided measuring cup that lists both metric and standard sizes. Fill the cup to the brim, then shake off the excess; When the rice is completely level to the brim, you have exactly 1 cup. The cup has a flattened side (which makes the hole look like a capital "D"), making it easy to scrape the bottom of the bin to get every last grain of rice. So brilliant! By the way, never put fresh rice on top of old rice in the trash can. The two types of rice are cooked slightly differently, so if you mix them you may end up with undercooked or undercooked rice in the same batch. Here's why.- The bin also comes with a retractable measuring cup/rice holder. This "mini bin" allows you to store leftover stale rice separately, while fresh rice is immediately added to the main bin. Most of the time, however, I only use it to store my measuring cup. It fully extends so I can easily get my rice out. It's nice but not required. The container itself holds 22 pounds of rice. I saved a lot of money buying 15 lb bags of rice at the Asian market (which has a huge selection and has always sold out several different brands) versus the overpriced 2-5 lb bags at the grocery store ( what was used). tip over and spill all over my closet). Costco also sells rice in 20-pound and 25-pound bags. We are a family of 2 who eat rice 2-3 times a week and the 15lb bags are easy to carry from the store and last a long time (2-3 months?). If you eat rice regularly, a specially designed, well-designed rice bowl will save you money and headaches in the long run. I suspect these reviewers were stocking brown rice that sometimes just comes out of the store with bugs/bug eggs already hidden inside (especially if they're buying from poorly sealed containers at the health food store). I have been using my shopping cart in Florida for 4 years now and have never had a bug with my shopping cart. I think if you only use white rice and eat it regularly then this container will be fine for you. But if you prefer brown rice or have an ongoing bug problem, you should probably choose a different airtight container. To be honest, the only "improvement" I can think of would be to put the standard sizes on the outside of the main tank. (only shows kg). But if you never use bin measurements anyway, then what's the point? The basket is transparent, so if you run out of rice, simply buy another 15lb bag of rice. The bottom line is that the basket is more expensive than a normal plastic box, but you get many practical, well thought-out features. which offer many quality of life improvements. It's like a Honda or Toyota among rice bins. After 4 years my basket still looks brand new and shows no signs of wear so I have a feeling it will last forever. And let's not forget that this silo pays for itself largely in savings on buying rice in bulk. This basket has never let me down and if it melts in a kitchen fire tomorrow (God forbid) I'll definitely be buying it again.
