Gears improve cutting performance, but they come with a major disadvantage. The disadvantage is that you have to open the handles very wide! That makes it harder to get into a tight branch, not to mention how much slower it is than standard loppers. If you don't have the strength to make incisions then this might be a better alternative. However, if you are of average strength or even slightly below average strength and buy them just because you think they are the best version of a standard delimber then you will most likely be very disappointed.
