
A metal bracket is attached above the ceiling to help screw the bracket in. The problem is that you have to partially screw the bracket to the metal bracket before installing it on the ceiling so you don't have to guess where the metal bracket's screw holes are (because once you insert the plastic bracket into the ceiling, it blocks view on the metal bracket that is above the ceiling) Between the metal bracket and the plastic bracket when they are partially screwed, the gap is small. This makes it very difficult to insert a metal bracket into the ceiling when the drywall is thicker than average. You can use force, but you risk breaking the plastic bracket or bending the metal bracket. My drywall is 5/8" and it was tough
