This is an easy way to connect two devices to the same modem line, but only one can be used at a time. For example if you are a gamer. If you have two devices and only one Ethernet cable in the room, you can switch the line between devices with the push of a button instead of having to unplug and plug the cable between devices every day. cheap, but that's because it's cheap.
