This scale is great. This gives you a pretty accurate reading, which is great. It is battery operated and comes with the batteries needed to operate. How long this takes depends on the batteries used. I only use rechargeable battery so I've never had to throw away batteries, but chances are they won't drain too much battery power and can even last months before the batteries die. The scale can hold up to 400 pounds and has interesting readers on it. You can place your toes on the metal surface for additional readings. Wearing socks will not provide accurate readings. The data is actually saved, although I never use it. This is good so you can see the progress over time. The weight is fairly accurate compared to many other scales. You get data accurate to a tenth. I actually use this to weigh packages because it gives me fairly accurate readings compared to my analog scales. The bottom has fairly good grip, and for best results use it on a flat, hard surface. Do not use this on carpets as it will cause weight loss. Otherwise I'm happy with this scale. It is accurate and I believe it helps promote weight loss.
