Wearing a scarf to sleep is great, but I've found that it soaks up the natural oils in my hair, leaving it dry but not too dry. I have curly curly hair (4c). I solved this problem by applying a light mist to my hair before bed. When I wake up my hair is still hydrated and happy. - (personal only) I thought both sides were "smooth", double isn't, but that's not a problem at all. Just fold it over itself and you're good to go. Pros: - It's big enough to fold into a triangle but has enough fabric to wrap your head. - The color is (for me) pigmented and vibrant. Looks like a "classic" silk cape. You can wear it as a scarf for a blouse or other choker, or as a headband (why I bought it) - Very easy to wash (hand wash in cold water, soft soap if heavily soiled) and dries quickly - Thin. I have heavy silk scarves that feel too big when wrapped. I'm not trying to be big and bold, I'm trying to look neutral and go home (when I choose to wear a headscarf to work or on the street). That is exactly right". I don't think you will be disappointed when you buy a scarf. I love it and will be ordering more, in different styles, if I get the chance. I think the scarf is well made. I like the size for my head shape. It's stylish and comfortable. I cheated and paired it with clothes where I could, here and there. I've had compliments and it accentuated my outfit beautifully, draping the shoulders down the middle. It arrived quickly. I would say that you should probably buy the pack of 4 scarves that the company offers. It would be cheaper.
