I only used this brush a few hours ago. It created a great thick lather with a harsh shaving soap and was really mild on my skin. Please see below how to use the brush when you first get it to get the most out of it. I found I had to clean it with dish soap before using it to shave but once I did it worked like a great brush. . let me explain. When I first used it, I just rinsed it off with water before trying to lather it up. It didn't turn out very well and at first I thought it was a bad brush. I noticed that the bristles felt sticky after this first try and I realized that due to the manufacturing process the bristles need to be coated (they are synthetic bristles after all) so I decided to rinse the bristles with dish soap to get rid of any factory residue to remove . . That helped. I tried the brush again and it gave me a nice thick lather.
