I bought these appliques to decorate a reproduction of a 1949 cocktail dress like my grandmother's in the photo from that year. Her dress was navy blue with light blue embroidered sequins and embroidered flowers on the upper left side of the bodice. Mine is black and the beautiful aqua color contrasts beautifully with it. Most appliques go on the dress, the smallest will be used (along with black tulle) to decorate a cocktail hat and the third appliqué will decorate a vintage handbag. Rhinestone centers add the perfect amount of sparkle. I am very pleased with the beauty and quality of the embroidery and beads.
