Received this hoping it might be a good car toy. I've always loved playing dice and thought my kid could too. Other themes might work for a car ride, but this alien doesn't. And that's fine - it wasn't advertised that way, so no harm. Alien is a matching game where you try to find an alien that matches the combination of colors and patterns shown on the dice. This is great for memory, pattern and symbol recognition, and any motor skills that push the bubble to pop the cube. It takes a little effort to burst the bubble, and sometimes the bones inside don't move as much after it bursts. The pop-top attaches to a small jar that holds the cards - this makes it look like a UFO and keeps it handy at all times. This is a good game for traveling but not for playing in the car. Escape is easy, although there's a trick to not getting out accidentally (which is exactly what you want). All in all this is a cute game. It is rated for ages 5+ but I think with enough supervision a 3 year old can enjoy it. I think 9 would probably be the limit.
