Review on Planet Bike Protégé 9.0 Bike Computer: Track Your Cycling Stats with Precision by Steve Hauck

This is my third purchase of a Planet Bike Protégé 9 computer. The first one broke after a few years of wear and tear. The second is a replacement and is still in use. I rate the first two five stars. So I buy this third one for my new bike and am disappointed because it has display issues; Some numbers are not displayed when inserted into the holder. It's a "2" (and up) in the second position on the odometer display, so you won't notice until you're 20 miles away. Taking it off the mount seems to help, but then it's useless, I want to be able to read it when I'm driving. I replaced this third one with another new one and it also has some numbers that don't show up on install. This is not a mount as my old computer runs in this new mount. I suspect that this last production batch could be defective. I hope this gets fixed as I like this model with a big display with lots of rows of data, temps etc but only two stars so far. I use my second one on two bikes and it works great. This computer has twice the functionality of a bicycle. I should have just bought an extra mount instead. The third (new) sits on my desktop for show and story.
