That's exactly what I wanted.

Punch made a good hole for the connecting wire. A good knife, a hole punch, a small block and pliers made the job easier. The leather belt was strong and flexible at the same time. When I was done, the sewing machine worked perfectly. The needle threader didn't last long before it broke.
