Not that bad. on cages

I bought this cage for two small rats. Please be careful and do NOT put baby rats in here. Mine could get out until about 3 months of age so I bought a makeshift cage (hamster/mouse size) until they were big enough to fit this one safely. This cage is a bit small and I wouldn't recommend keeping more than two rats in here. It can hold some toys, a hammock, etc. I wanted to buy a larger size because it's difficult to mount the wheel with everything else, but mine refuses to use the wheel. I run mine in the bedroom or on her exercise ball. I'm very lucky that mine aren't big gummy bears as the entire base is plastic. They really started chewing on the little corner, but adding new toys stopped that (they must have gotten bored). My advice here is no more than 2, if they are around 3 months or older make sure they have enough time out of the cage and make sure they have enough stuff to keep them occupied. Rats need to be stimulated and they need to do something. My dear Kleenex boxes for playing and hiding things. I'm happy with this cage bug, if you don't plan on releasing your rats often, please do them a favor and get something bigger.
