Charges four times faster

This converter worked well when first installed. I replaced the IOTA 55 converter with a PD9260CV. It took some thought and adding a few extra pieces of 6 gauge wire, but it all works fine now. The IOTA 55 took 10 hours to charge my two 6V Trojan T105 batteries to 90% in less than 2 hours. A full charge does not exceed 13V instead of IOTA's old 12.65V. The Power Dynamics converter has a burst mode. where it provides over 14 volts until the batteries are at 90% and then it drops to 13.6 until they hit 100%. The wizard will tell you if it is burst mode, standard charge or desulfation. It comes with two positive and two negative terminals. I will use the second to independently charge a spare AGM battery. Replacing the IOTA 55 required loosening 8-10 screws to disconnect the old converter, disconnect 4 wires and remove the block. I screwed the PDI converter to the floor and ran two longer 6 gauge stranded wires to replace the old 12 volt power wires. I then cut the wall plug off the PDI's power cord and plugged it into the 110VAC outlets in the control panel. I did it at camp during downtime. Then he started the generator and immediately charged 14V +. Works perfectly.

Pros
  • Electronic current limiter automatically reduces output voltage when maximum capacity is reached
Cons
  • Not sure
