I have a field version of the sharpener which I really like, just wanted a desktop version for home use. You get a constant angle every time, resulting in a very sharp edge. I'm interested in the floating theme and it seems to work. You only need one course tile to sculpt an edge for the first time or to fix a really dull edge, make 10-15 strokes on each side, then repeat with each stone. I finish mine on a leather strap (Kanfs) with 6000 buffing compound (comes with the strap). Generates a razor blade every time! I have all kinds of sharpening stones, from Japanese wet stones, diamond stones, Arkansas stones to steel sharpening. This is by far the easiest way to get a big advantage fast!
