The material is much softer and smoother than shown in the pictures. You need to iron it before putting it on the bed to make it look smoother/flatter (you can try to starch the corners a bit to give it a stiffer look). When ordering, be sure to measure the correct drop length. I have a 16" height adjustable platform bed and the 16" bed fits as expected. We have hardwood floors and our Roomba can easily walk past an apron to vacuum under the bed. I usually wash my bed skirt about once every 6-12 months depending on how dusty the room is. As this skirt is pure cotton I would recommend a gentle cycle with cold water, minimal spin and low speed drying to maintain size (and iron if you want that crease-free look). We are very happy with this skirt and it fits. very well with the duvet we use on the duvet.
