I bought this because I didn't want to turn on my full size air conditioner because the utility bills are expensive and we have occasional power outages and my main air conditioner is noisy. It's perfect for getting around at my desk, dining table or in bed. Why cool the whole house and spend money? Just use it and keep calm. You can buy another one as a gift. Steam mist is not wet. Pros: It emits superfine mist like fumes, does not make the air humid. The air it releases is cooling! It's like a timer 3 fan mod. I don't think I care, but it's a really cool alarm so you know when to refill. Not loud. Cons: You have to be careful when moving around with a full supply of water
