At first we didn't know how it was going to go but decided we wouldn't know until we tried! SO glad we did! We got our kitten from Second Chance Homeless and they said she has been around people but has never been a true house cat at any point in her life. When we adopted her we decided/agreed to only keep her as an indoor kitten but wanted to give her the freedom to go outside from time to time!*** We did so to put a harness on her and her to bring outside! For about a month we carefully put her in the harness, feed her maybe 2-4 small tiny treats and let her know everything is fine. At first she protested a little, but she was never hostile, so at least it didn't bother us! She just sat/laid down and didn't move. We left the harness on her for 10-30 minutes (after about 3 weeks we left her on for a full hour!), then took it off and praised her and maybe a treat or two. Every week we noticed an improvement! For the first week she just lay there and hardly moved. After a while she started walking slowly (with such a funny/weird walking style!). The next week she started walking more normally lol. next week she wasn't afraid to run and play with her toys! Fast forward to about 5 weeks and now she's sitting on her doorstep WANTING to get out! She even sniffed the seat belts when I lifted them up to put them on her. It is so sweet! You just need to know/read your cat's signals to see how best to use their training. I think it helped that I knew it was going to be a long process. Some were fine after a week, but every cat is different. It took my cat 4-5 weeks to feel completely comfortable in it. She seems to want to go outside at night but she doesn't really like during the day because we live in an apartment building and there is a lot of traffic and noise outside. I think that makes them nervous/anxious. She just walks around our floor and looks over the railings and she's not afraid to walk down the stairs or anything, just seems to enjoy sitting outside for a bit! Amazing purchase, she's worth it and I know she loves it too! Oh, and we no longer give her treats when she's wearing a harness or when she's outside, and she's great at getting attention and praise haha.*** BUY/SELF-PRODUCT. *** We are S/M and she is a 9 lb black/maine coon/rag doll? Mix. She's a little thing! It fits her tummy perfectly, no loose velcro to be too tight/loose or anything like that. The velcro on her neck is a bit big, it will fit really well, but since it's about 2 inches wide, it took her quite a while to get used to it. She doesn't like turning her head in it, she just moves her body xD. When I put it on, I make sure her mustache doesn't get caught in the Velcro around her neck. and make sure it's not too tight or too loose. The overall impression of the suspension is very comfortable! Nothing irritates her fur or skin as far as I can tell and she has long hair and doesn't care. She's not afraid of velcro noise (it's pretty loud) and it's MUCH stronger than I thought! I have to somehow hold on to the seat belts to take them off her. It doesn't bother her anymore. In general, you need to get used to a lot of patience and treats! I've attached a photo, I hope it helps. Have fun with your kittens!
