Review on πŸ“€ LG WH16NS40 Blu-ray Disc Rewriter - Internal SATA Super Multi 16x by Michelle Vaughn

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Excellent UHD 4k drive fiendish with firmware downgrade

Like the old LG Blu disk, this one works just as well, reads and writes all formats as described, very well with decent software like imgburn (it's free). I believe Asus and LG similar drives are from regular manufacturer Hitachi. I think the only difference is the name on the front and the sticker under the hood, it's the same drive, keep that in mind. Out of the box it doesn't play my 4k discs, shame on the maker turning to the entertainment industry. You would think that with the slow sales of these discs they would cater to potential customers, especially those like me who think set top boxes are a waste of money when you have a home media server. . Sure, the Xbox plays them great, but not so well when used by kids. In any case, the good news is that there is growing support for changing this with a modified firmware installer, whether it's called Asus or LG. Mind you, I'm not talking about an overly complicated method that may or may not work, but a normal legal upgrade (a downgrade in this case) slightly modified to accommodate the downgrade. to be "red" in the face; )
