Must Have for Asus Vertical M.2 Slot

If you have an Asus motherboard with a vertical M.2 slot, this is a must have. Otherwise, you'll end up with a black and green bar sticking out next to your RAM, which looks pretty odd. The mounting clips for this are spaced correctly to fit the vertical SSD bracket. You can even route cables from underneath and through the back of the PC case to hide them. How to install: If you have a vertical SSD mount, you can pre-attach the clips, dismount clips on the next edge. to the RGB strip. You can then detach the pin that holds the SSD in place but leave the M.2 slot plugged in. Then carefully slide the heatsink onto it. I didn't use a thermal pad and you'll see why below. Image 1 - Asus standard mount. Image 2 with this SSD "cooler" As far as cooling is concerned, it does a decent job. I didn't feel the need for a thermal pad. The heatsink gets hot without it and is easier to attach without a thermal pad. Also, you will need to remove the manufacturer's sticker to properly install the gasket, and you may void your SSD's warranty. After 1 pass, ATTO rose to 60ยฐC. It used to be up to 65 degrees. My other SSD with thermal pad and Asus heatsink got up to 58C, but it's a slower SSD.

Pros
  • Three-tier buckle supports M.2 SSDs of different thicknesses. (SSD not included)
Cons
  • Some little things
