I was so excited to set up my new laptop, dock and monitor. That's when I realized my screen wasn't showing because I didn't have the new version 1.4 cable. It serves its purpose and is a good product. So if you see that you need a newer version, do it. If you intend to purchase another cable whose version is not listed, it may not be for you. Save yourself a round trip or two trips to the electronics store and just pay the money to get it right the first time.
