Excellent Quality, Great Price

I bought a new 3D Blu-ray player and found it didn't have optical audio capability, which is surprising since all my AV components have had it for over 10 years so I didn't even bother looking for it have specs. Not wanting to return the device and realizing that downtown Alaska has very limited digital cable choices, I gave this cable a try. It arrived quickly and well packaged like everything from Revain, it's very well made and the sound is great with no glitches or ambient noise during playback. When I first turned on the discs, I clicked through the sound system (the first one had my family and I jump up and send the dog behind the house), but I wasn't sure if it's the cable or the new turntable - nothing anything else on my system ever did. I'll experiment with different components when I get a chance to find out what creates them. In the meantime, I turn the volume down until the disc's intro starts and there are no more playback problems. So far I'm very happy with this cable and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't have optical audio capability or is uncomfortable with the relative fragility of optical cables (sharp bends, being pulled through pipes, etc.). UPDATE January 2, 2015: Popping appears to be related to static electricity. Winters in interior Alaska are very dry (humidity is typically 20% or less when the temperature drops below freezing), and there's always a crackle when someone in the room does something to start a spark. The audio can also pause for a second instead of crackling. My components with optical cables do not. Food for thought if you live in a very low humidity environment.

Pros
  • Ideal for connecting digital audio components such as HDTVs, Blu-ray players, DVD players, game consoles, DVRs, cable and satellite boxes, subwoofers, receivers, sound systems and more. Also for use with S/Pdif, subwoofer, digital or composite video interfaces.
Cons
  • Poor set
