We are adopting dogs from the shelter and our new foster child is mostly blind. We couldn't risk that little guy outside when we had an above ground pool. He fell once and quickly learned how to maneuver, but never be too careful. It was the perfect vest. It's lightweight so not heavy and easy to set up. I like the double velcro closure and then the straps. Not sure if the quality is the best for people who have dogs that are often in the water (kayaking, boating etc) but for what we needed it was really perfect. A strap on top to lift her out of the water is essential. We love it and our little foster child Harry didn't mind either. We let him carry him indoors for 2 days and initially for a few hours so he wouldn't be afraid to carry him outside. It was comfortable to lie down and take a nap. I bought this XS in orange for our Chihuahua. Fits perfectly. And while their measurements didn't differ much, the difference was huge, so BE SURE TO MEASURE and follow the directions.
