We had 2 7" cans which we replaced with triple hangers. None of the screw adapters I found will fit 7" cans. They work great, but if you have a newer house with precast joists (can only be used for the downstairs ceiling - not sure) the 2x4s you put in between will be on their side, so only the bottom half of the plank actually lie touch the beam. If I were to install a ceiling fan I would have my doubts but for 1-3 pendant lights it is more than adequate. Once you pull out the glass, it's very easy to install. The spacers/feet on the ends keep the mount at the correct height so you don't have to fiddle with it at all. That they include a magnet to hold the box in place is pretty cool too.
