My husband and I have 5 key fobs together (2 each for 2 of our cars, plus one for the house alarm) and we've seen a lot of email traffic on our neighborhood mailing list. about how criminals can break into your car if they "read" the signal from your key fob around the house. We looked at Faraday keychain covers, but they seemed too cumbersome to use every time we need to get in the car. So we took this box and just put the keys in it when we got home at the end of the day. We tested the "auto open" proximity function on our cars in the driveway. The door opened when the keys were in the hallway, but didn't open when locked in the box. I don't know if this works against any technology thieves use these days, but I think it's worth trying every deterrent we can put in their way.
