I bike commute to my job as a high school teacher. My bike isn't super expensive, but I wanted something that would be resistant to theft by students who may attempt to retaliate for a perceived wrong as the only bike rack at our school is one students also use.I saw this lock and was excited to get it. First thing I noticed was that it's pretty heavy. It hasn't been an issue, I clip it to my pants in front and I have no pulling. It's a little clumsy in that area, but it works. The segments all click together to fold up and they stay together. I haven't had any issues with them moving. It comes with a rubber band to keep them together, which I promptly lost, but I haven't needed it. I don't think the rubber band is the best option for this anyway due to the ease of loss of it.It WILL scratch your bike if it's jostled. That's a big downside. Currently, there aren't many people using the bike rack AND I get to work earlier than other bike riders, so I can choose my end position to lock it, but as we get busier, I do see that scratching could become a problem. It comes with 3 keys which is SO nice. I keep one on my work stuff and the others at home in case something happens. You cannot remove the key while you are in the middle of locking or unlocking or you will not be able to lock the pieces back and fold it to put it away so that makes it hard to lose the key in the middle of that process.
