Review on AcuRite 00515M Digital Wireless Fridge and Freezer Thermometer with Alarm and Max/Min Temperature - Ideal for Home and Restaurants by Corey Listner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice when it works

I have 3 of these, they work in 3 fridges and 3 freezers, on 3 different channels. They are easy to set up and easy to read. According to the receivers, the signals propagate through a half-dozen interior and exterior walls with little loss of power, and my total distance is about 75 feet. Five of the six sensors work very well, matching my mechanical thermometers to within about 2F. . After just one week, the sixth sensor (in the refrigerator) deviated by 16 degrees compared to the other sensors and the mechanical thermometer. I use suitable new batteries. I tried a hard reset; Doesn't fix the problem. As with most products from China, quality control is random. I think it's best to throw away the failed sensor, buy another system and keep a sensor as a backup for the next failure. Currently the chances that my problem will be solved (at least for a while) are at 5:6. $35 is a very good price for this type of product. Don't think I'm risking half price brands. Update: After moving the faulty sensor MUCH closer to the receiver (30 feet, 1 wall), I now have accurate readings. The signal strength indicator shows a strong signal or no signal. With that caveat in mind, this is easily a four star product.
