I understand the reviewer's frustration who said the mechanism has failed and he can no longer open it with the key. I had this with another brand before I bought this one. However, that did not happen here. A month of active use, so far so good. except for one thing: the door is heavy. This is very good, the whole block is heavy and will be difficult to crack. However, the battery cover is on the underside of the flap and is made out of cheap plastic. If you slip the slippery little handle from your fingers while closing the safe, it will slam and possibly pop the battery door out and the device will lose power. The battery cover must therefore be screwed tight. It will be a design decision. Also, a small shiny handle could be replaced with a massive handle. Both would make this product really great.
