The norm doesn't fit. Thread on the handle

Good mop head, soft, does not scratch my RV or car, but I bought a good extension / handle for 40 dollars (8 foot to reach the camper) and the threads on this mop are too big. I actually have 4 other colored pencils and mops in my garage so I tried those too and none of them worked. The thread diameter of this mop is too big for both. All threads are standard width, I never thought this would be a problem, now I'm trying to find one that fits or returning it. Find it odd that other reviews don't mention this?
