Fantastic tent.: Tents

Just received this tent and set it up in my backyard. Here are my first impressions. I will update this review as soon as I can get it in the field. Definitely impressed so far. I've used several famous tents over the years - Big Agnes, Black Diamond, Mountain Hardwear, Kelty - and this thing is top notch. Construction: Thanks to the construction of the bar, this thing is STRONG. The rain cover has pull tabs on the tent body. I doubt I'll ever need braces, but I was glad to see them. All seams appear to be intact. Seam sealing looks great. The zippers feel smooth. I was also impressed with the extra guy pegs as many tents I've bought only have pegs for the tent itself. The bottom of the tent feels solid and strong (MUCH more durable than my other ultralight tents). Space: I'm about 6'1" and still have enough room to fit a travel backpack under my feet or over my head when lying down, so I'm confident four adults can fit inside. We will be using this tent for myself, my wife, my son and (sometimes) our dog. So for three people, the interior size looks luxurious. The front lobby is certainly large enough to cook in. The rear vestibule is big enough for our backpacks, shoes or a fridge if needed. It's worth noting that the design of the pole creates an almost vertical wall of the tent, which really allows you to maximize the usable space inside the tent. Features: I was very pleasantly surprised by some of these features that I wasn't expecting. First, there are 6 (SIX!) pockets built into the tent, and there was a built-in loft at the top of the tent. When camping with kids you always need bags so I was really excited to see that. There is a hook/loop on the top of the tent for a lantern/headlamp if needed. Another unexpected feature was a small zipper at the exit for running the power cord inside the tent. In fact, there are also some small Velcro loops that you can use to run the cord up the corner of the tent to the top/middle of the tent. I really appreciated this attention to detail. My only minor gripe with this tent is that I wish the rain cover had two-way zips so I could open the top half of the door for better circulation. There are velcro straps for that, but it's always nice to just unzip the zipper a bit for ventilation. Best Use: While we intend to use this as a family camping tent, it's probably at the heavyweight limit. wear. This tent works well as a car tent for camping, but for short hikes the capacity and construction of this tent make it a fairly luxurious camping tent. I'll provide an update once I get it somewhere to see if my opinion has changed, but for now I think the weight of this tent is reasonable for shorter hikes. Conclusion (for now): Take this tent. Be sure to buy this tent if you are coming by car. Definitely get this tent if you are on a budget and need something high quality and don't know where to look. Just get it.
