Disclosure: The manufacturer sent me this product free of charge. There were no conditions other than asking for an honest review. Blackout Buddy Color is essentially a very bright night light that can double as a backup LED flashlight (e.g. during a power outage). There were no instructions in the box (which is pretty difficult to open) so I called the company. I was told that they are still working on the instructions. It wasn't hard to figure it all out by playing around with Blackout Buddy Color, but a guide would have made it easier. How it works: If you plug the Backup Buddy Color into an outlet and set the switch on the side to "Normal", the internal batteries will be charged and the Backup Buddy Color will automatically turn on when the room is dark and glow dimly. a wide arc around the outlet. By pressing the small square button on the side, the light changes from white to blue to green. If you get closer than 2 or 3 feet, the motion sensor will increase the intensity of the light. While there's no way to dim the nightlight for sleeping, you can turn the nightlight off by sliding the side switch to the "dark" position. The Backup Buddy was too bright to use as a night light in my bedroom. I think this does a much better job of illuminating a hallway or stair case where it can't shine into the bedroom unless you or your kids prefer to sleep in a darkened room. The motion detection function is still active in dark mode. When it detects you (or your pets or children) nearby, it turns on this bright LED. The Buddy Color continues to glow and has another push button switch that lights another LED that doubles as a flashlight. I tried leaving it in this mode for 3 hours and it was still light. The bottom line is this thing does exactly what the ad says it does, but it's better for a different room than the one in You sleep unless you like it very much. light in the night.
